New old map! From the 1892 DH Hurd State Atlas of New Hampshire
I have seen this one online and yesterday received a copy in the mail. We had driven out to the end of Chickwolnepy Rd this fall, in hopes of seeing the old Bickford homestead that cousin Don had visited more than once. Alas, the road was gated and we could not see if the house was still standing.
I had remembered seeing a late 1800s map showing a Bickford living at the end of a long road trending more east than north out of Milan. I looked for the NH maps in the old land ownership style and the 1892 one looked like a good one to start with.
For some reason, I thought it said N Bickford. But you can see that it is CP Bickford, which would be Charles Perley Bickford, Burge Sr's father. Later, Lavatar (Burge Sr's older brother) lived there. Or at least it was his summer home. Also shows ST Bickford's property near the center of Milan.
